How important is counting macros in your nutrition plan? First, if you are not familiar with what ‘macros’ are they are the three main macronutrients Fat, Protein, and Carbohydrates. You can manipulate the amount of each macro you consume on a daily basis to gain the desired effect in your body, whether that is weight loss, body composition, or performance. However, macro counting falls short when it comes to sustaining those effects over the long term. This is different if you are an athlete looking to improve performance through changes in body fat percentage or muscle composition as macro counting will get you the desired results quickly but if you are looking for results that are sustainable over the long term then you should consider steering away from macro counting.
