What does it mean to be "fit?" (And how can Invictus make me fitter)

The term “fitness” is often thrown around a CrossFit gym like ours, but what exactly defines a person as fit? In CrossFit, we have ten general physical skills that we aim to be balanced in: Cardio/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. Through a variety of functional movements and time domains, we work these skills. The more advanced we are in each component, the fitter we become.

That’s why we track our workout scores. It’s similar to when the doctor measures our heart rate. Just like how we want a steady heart rate, we work on improving our scores by our movement patterns and speed. Being able to perform the proper mechanics consistently and quickly, will determine our intensity and our fitness level. Our fitness provides a buffer for the inevitability of time and any future illnesses we may endure. Being fit transfers into our everyday lives. When walking upstairs with several grocery bags or lifting a heavy box above our head faces us, it is as easy as 1,2,3!

At Invictus, we meet you wherever you are at. Whether it’s your first time in a CrossFit gym, you’re coming back from an injury, or have a specific goal in mind, we would love to help you. We have group CrossFit classes, weightlifting, gymnastics, personal training, and nutrition coaching. Our coaches will thoroughly teach you functional movements, become your biggest support team, and more importantly, show you that you belong in a CrossFit gym. Everyone does!
